I’ll be working on getting Seneca’s course ready for the SC Doubles Championship on Saturday August 14th and Sunday the 15th. We’ll be working on clearing holes 2, 4, 5, 11 and 12.
Friday the GODG design team will finalize the course layout at the newest course in Oconee County at Chattooga Belle Farm in Long Creek. We’ve been working over the past couple of weeks on the design and are close to having something finalized. The goal on Friday is to have a plan to present the owner of the property.
If you would like to join us and help in the design process you need to arrive to the property between 3:30 and 4:00 on Friday. From Westminster, take Highway 76 toward Clayton, GA. Damascus Church Road is just past the Long Creek General Store. Turn left on Damascus Church Road. The farm is a half mile from Highway 76. The Long Creek Fire Department is on the corner of Highway 76 and Damascus Church Road.
Chattooga Belle Farm is 20 minutes from Clayton, GA; 20 minutes from Westminster and 25 minutes from Walhalla.
A new 18-hole Disc Golf course has been approved and will be installed in Long Creek this summer.
Chattooga Belle Farm U-pick orchard has decided to install an 18-hole pay to play Disc Golf course. The owner first considered Disc Golf as an attraction this past Spring. He met with members of GODG in April and made a final decision on the course last week.
Members of GODG are in the process of designing the course. It will feature a short 6 hole loop (1-3, 15-18) for families while holes 4-14 will be longer, more challenging. As soon as the course is open for play, there will be an invite for a Sunday afternoon random draw doubles.
If the course is completed with plenty of time to allow for teams planning on playing the State Doubles Championship to practice, it might host the first day of the state tournament.
The registration for the South Carolina Disc Golf Doubles Championship is now open. You can download a registration form here.
