GODG Courses

Greater Oconee Disc Golf is proud to have a 24 hole course, three-18 hole courses and a 9-hole course in Oconee County. With plans in the works for several more courses, Oconee County will soon have more courses than any-other county in South Carolina.  Each course name links to directions and course reviews.

Current Courses:

Seneca - Shaver Recreation Complex was established in 2004. It’s an 24 hole course with nice elevation changes and tight, wooded fairways for the first 18 and 6 holes in the main part of the park between and behind the ball fields.  This course hosts several tournaments a year including the Seneca Spring Sling and day two of the SC Doubles Championship. Seven holes have multiple pin placements.

Tamassee - DAR School was established in 2008.  It’s a short 9 hole course. While it’s on school property, the course is open for public play. It’s in a over-grown field along the edge of some woods.

Walhalla - Sertoma Field was established in 2008.  It’s a short 18-hole course that wraps around a large field and has become the most played course in Oconee County.  The course makes its way into and out of the woods several times and a creek with several small waterfalls comes into play on five holes.  Sertoma Field will host the weekly random draw doubles league on Mondays at 6pm in 2011. League play starts at 6pm Memorial Day through Labor Day.

ClemsonUniversity Beach was established in 2009.  While it has a Clemson address, the course is located on the Oconee County side of Lake Hartwell, just a few minutes from downtown Clemson and the University. It’s the longest course in Oconee County when played from the long tees with several holes being over 500 feet.  Most holes have multiple tees that are marked with flags.

Long Creek - Chattooga Belle Farm Opened in July 2010. It’s located on a private U-Pick orchard operation. The course is quite long with several holes over 500′ in length. It features great views of the Mountains of North GA, Western NC and the Upstate of SC. The course begins with several holes going up and down hay-cover hills before working its way along Horseshoe Lake. The course finishes with three holes playing through the apple orchard.

Planned courses include:

Chau Ram County Park on Highway 76 West of Westminster. Oconee County Council has already approved the 18 hole course. The City of Westminster is responsible for the funding of the course and is currently doing a fund raising campaign. Plans are for it to have multiple pins and at least two sets of tees per hole. The fund raising goal is $15,000 to pay for baskets, tees, benches and trash cans.  Currently $3,600 has been raised for the project.

Shaver Recreation Complex is adding more holes to its current 24 hole configuration. Twelve additional baskets are on the premises. The design of the new holes is being handled by club members. A date for the 12 baskets being in the ground and playable hasn’t been established but look for additional holes by spring 2011.

Keowee River is a development on Lake Keowee North of Seneca on Highway 130. Plans were announced in the summer of 2009 for the development and it includes an 18 hole Disc Golf course. No time line has been established for this development.
